The Musk Reports documents the public record on Elon Musk, race and extremism: what was said, when, where, by whom, and what followed.
It is a record, not an argument. Where we quote, the quotation is verbatim and dated. Where a claim is contested, both accounts appear. Where something has been withdrawn, we say so. Where we do not know, we write that on the page.
How the site is organised
What we will not do
- Invent anything. No fabricated quotations, no reconstructed dialogue, no satire, no fiction. Every quotation on this site is verbatim from a cited source.
- Treat corporate liability as personal conduct. A lawsuit against Tesla is a lawsuit against Tesla.
- Treat an allegation as a finding. Complaints, filings and regulator claims are labelled as such, and outcomes — including dismissals — appear at the top of the page, not buried.
- Characterise where we can quote. What someone said is a fact. What they meant is an interpretation, and interpretations are labelled.
- Repeat claims that flatter us but aren’t true. We have published debunks of allegations about our own subject where the evidence did not support them.
Three things you can check
Anyone can claim to be even-handed. These pages are what the claim rests on:
- The SpaceX hiring case — a federal civil rights action that ended in dismissal with prejudice. No finding, no penalty. The outcome is in the opening paragraph.
- Every time he has apologised, retracted or deleted — a standing index of what he has taken back, which openly invites additions that make our other pages look overstated.
- The aviation posts — where we reject the conspiracy reading of a post that would have suited us, and set out the case against DEI as its own advocates make it.
A record is harder. It has to include the dismissals, the retractions, the times the courts went the other way, and the arguments of people you disagree with, stated in their strongest form. That is the standard this site is trying to meet. Where we fall short of it, we would rather be told.
On the subject of this site
Elon Musk is a living person and a public figure. Everything published here concerns his public statements and conduct, and the public conduct of companies he leads. We do not publish about his private life, his family beyond documented and publicly discussed history, his medical affairs, or his motives.
He, and any representative acting for him, has a standing right of reply on every page. A response of reasonable length will be published in full and unedited, without conditions. See the corrections policy.
Known limitations
We would rather state these than have them found:
- Archive captures are incomplete. Many posts are currently sourced to contemporaneous reporting rather than to captures of the posts themselves. Affected pages say so in their provenance strips, which read “not captured”.
- Some primary documents are cited through reporting. Court judgments and filings that are public should be linked directly, and on several pages they are not yet.
- Live matters go stale. Legal proceedings move. Every article carries the date its position was last verified.
- This is not a comprehensive record of the man. It covers one subject. It is not a biography and does not attempt to weigh his life as a whole.
